Cell Biology & Biotechnology Eligibility Requirements
Upon entering the program you should have a background in two or more of the following areas:
- Genetics
- Cell biology
- Microbiology
- Biochemistry
In addition, you must demonstrate previous laboratory experience in at least two of these areas. You may substitute relevant work experience for formal coursework at the discretion of the program director.
Admission requirements include:
- BS or BA in a scientific or health program.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English. TOEFL scores are required of all students whose native language is not English.
- Current GRE scores (unless you receive a waiver, see below for details).
Taking Courses before Admission
If you are interested in enrolling in coursework prior to admission to the program, you may do so. You can apply up to 12 credits toward your master's in cell biology and biotechnology upon formal admission into the program. However, taking classes before you are accepted into the program does not guarantee your admission into the program.
The following materials will be required prior to course enrollment:
- Application for Graduate Studies
- Transcripts from at least one college/university attended showing BA/BS degree
- Résumé/Curriculum Vitae
- Statement of career and professional goals
- One letter of recommendation
Waiver from GRE Test Scores
If you've taken courses prior to formal admission you may be eligible for a waiver from submitting GRE scores with the formal application for admission. To be eligible for the waiver, you must have:
- Completed a minimum of 9 credits of coursework in the program
- Maintained a GPA of 3.00 or higher
- Received no grade less than "B-" in any of the courses
