Pharmacognosy Eligibility Requirements
If you have a BS or BA from a recognized institution of higher learning, you are encouraged to apply. You must be fluent in both spoken and written English. TOEFL and TWE scores are required of all international students whose native language is not English. You are also encouraged to take advantage of the online GRE, available year-round at various testing centers.
If you are applying from an institution that is not accredited, you will be requested to take the GRE subject test in chemistry. If you are from an accredited university and forward results of the GRE subject test in chemistry, those results will be considered.
Prerequisites
The following classes are prerequisites for admission into the pharmacognosy program, including all tracks (MS Thesis, MS Non-Thesis, and PhD). You must present transfer credit, earn advanced placement credit by examination (the Qualifying Exams) or obtain credit in undergraduate courses in:
- 2 semesters Calculus
- 2 semesters Organic Chemistry (with laboratory)
- 1 semester Analytical Chemistry
- 1 semester Literature of Chemistry
- 1 semester English Composition
- 1 semester Organismal or Population Biology
- 1 semester Cell Biology or Biochemistry
- 1 semester Statistics
