Message from the Director

William F. McGhan William F. McGhan, PhD
Graduate Program Director for Pharmacy Administration

There is a critical need for persons with the advanced training in pharmacy administration. Along with the increasing importance of medicine in society, there are increasingly complex interactions among public and private agencies, health insurers, managed care, pharmaceutical companies, providers and consumers.

The health care system is undergoing rapid and significant change, fueled by the interaction of cost containment and new biotechnologies. The next decade will afford pharmacy administration professionals many opportunities for growth and development.

Through USP's graduate program in pharmacy administration, you will be connected to research, resources, and knowledge that can prepare you for responsible leadership positions in research, academia, industry or public service. Located in Philadelphia — a region with rich and abundant resources related to teaching and research — our institution is linked with many outside healthcare organizations, government agencies, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, clinical research organizations, as well as marketing and communications firms. In addition to pharmacy administration courses, our students can enroll in other graduate courses in public health, pharmaceutical business, biomedical writing and health policy. Our faculty has professional links and collaboration with many resources both national and international.

I hope you will become more familiar with our graduate programs in pharmacy administration and the unique ways that USP can advance your career goals.
