Pharmacy Administration Program Requirements & Standards
The mission of the graduate program in pharmacy administration is to educate you to become a competent and innovative researcher, educator, administrator, and leader in health care services, health economics, and administrative sciences. This training guides you toward a stimulating and successful career with significant contributions to improved health services nationally and internationally.
The master's program supports this mission through the discovery, application, and dissemination of knowledge related to drug use and the health care process for all health professionals and to the public. A theoretical model of the health researcher is that the researcher is the facilitator between mankind and health. The overall departmental goal is to continually improve pharmaceutical and health care services for the public through teaching, research, and service.
The pharmacy administration program advocates the following goals and areas of responsibility as essential components of its mission:
1. Provide high quality education to graduate and postgraduate students
2. Develop in students a high level of knowledge, research competence, a sense of inquisitiveness, and skills of analysis
3. Promote and contribute measurably to the advancement of health services research and pharmaceutical care through the conduct and publication of research
4. Provide resources to improve the educational process and scholarly skills of students and faculty
5. Enhance the cost-effectiveness of health care and pharmaceutical services for the benefit of society
6. Motivate students for lifelong learning and continuing self-improvement in fulfilling personal and professional responsibilities
7. Improve the competency of pharmacy and other health care practitioners, researchers, and administrators through continuing education programs
8. Contribute significantly to the success of the University through participation in its activities
9. Actively participate in professional, scientific, and academic societies
10. Integrate service, education, and research activities with affiliated institutions and global organizations
11. Support clinical, social, economic, and administrative activities and advancements that meet the highest standards
MS Non-Thesis
You may earn your master's of science degree upon the completion of at least 30 semester hours of credit.
