The MBA Studying Healthcare in Japan
As a joint effort of the department of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business and the department of Health Policy and Public Health, 12 graduate students visited Japan from July 1–11, 2007. (see photos below)
The business students participated as part of the International Pharmaceutical Business course and the Health Policy students as part of a special topics elective. Bruce Rosenthal (Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business) and Dr. Robert Field (Health Policy and Public Health) accompanied the group. They met with Japanese professionals from the pharmaceutical and health care fields. Some of the company visits on the agenda included Eizai Headquarters, Dai-Ichi R&D Center, A-Z Japan and Wyeth Japan. The students also met with students from several top-level universities including Tokyo University, in addition to attending meetings with prominent academic researchers and government officials.
The 2nd annual trip to Japan will take place this summer from June 29th to July 9th.
All MBA students are strongly encouraged to join this trip. It offers each student a chance to experience & understand another culture and see first-hand how that culture affects the whole pharmaceutical/health care field. We hope that all MBA students will be able to join us. Japan is a fascinating country in addition to being the second largest single pharmaceutical market in the world, and an extremely important market to understand. If you know any graduate of the program that may be interested in this opportunity please let them know.
This is truly an experience to remember.
